Lily Chatalbasheva

Secretary-General of YMUNE XIV

Dear delegates, advisors, parents, and aspiring diplomats,

My name is Lily Chatalbasheva, and I have the honour of serving as the fourteenth Secretary-General of Yale Model United Nations Europe, a prestigious and transformative conference taking place in a different European country nearly every year.

It is my greatest pleasure to officially invite you to YMUNE XIV, which will take place on March 14-16, 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland! YMUNE offers a unique platform for young minds to engage in rigorous debate, enhance their understanding of global issues, and develop invaluable skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

The United Nations, since its founding in 1945, has been dedicated to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations, achieving international cooperation in solving international problems, and being a center for harmonizing the actions of nations. The mission of the UN is vast and multifaceted, addressing challenges from humanitarian crises to climate change, from human rights to sustainable development. As delegates, you will step into the shoes of diplomats and policymakers, grappling with these very issues that shape our world.

Model United Nations is not merely an academic exercise; it is a vital educational experience that cultivates a deep understanding of the complexities of international relations. It fosters critical thinking, public speaking, negotiation, and leadership skills. Moreover, Model UN emphasizes the importance of diplomacy, collaboration, and compromise—qualities essential for the next generation of global leaders. By participating in this conference, you are not only expanding your knowledge but also contributing to a culture of dialogue and mutual respect.

This year in particular we have shaped our vision around the values of education, financial accessibility, and diversity. It is our main goal to foster a diversity of perspectives and experiences at the table by providing extensive financial assistance, actively recruiting delegates from all backgrounds, and offering resources for participants with various languages and skill levels prior to and during the conference.

This year’s conference promises to be an exceptional experience, filled with engaging debates, insightful discussions, and the forging of new friendships. Embrace this opportunity to learn, to grow, and to make a difference. We are confident that your participation in Yale Model United Nations Europe XIV will leave a lasting impact on you and, through you, on the world.

Once again, welcome to YMUNE XIV! We look forward to witnessing your passion, your intellect, and your dedication to the ideals of the United Nations.

Kindly,

Lily Chatalbasheva (she/her/hers)
