As we gather in Rome 🇮🇹, the Eternal City, we encourage delegates to explore a defining question of our generation: Are the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals truly the most effective framework for addressing today’s most urgent global challenges?
Throughout its 80 year history, the UN has experienced both extreme diplomatic highs, but also global challenges that test its capabilities. From ameliorating global poverty to combatting climate change, the SDGs represent the most ambitious roadmap yet for tackling such crises, but their impact depends on the proactiveness of representatives and global leaders.
We invite delegates to think boldly, challenge assumptions, and share their ideas/suggestions through their speech. Do the SDGs provide the most powerful tool for global progress? Where do they succeed, and where do they fall short? What alternative approaches or improvements should the international community consider?
The YMUNE XV Secretariat can’t wait to hear your unique perspective! After all, our generation will become the next set of global leaders, thinkers, and diplomats!
